Follica sees bushy prospects in baldness therapy
The San Francisco Chronicle takes a hard look at the new baldness therapies in the pipeline, concentrating much of its attention on Follica, which is focusing on microdermabrasion to remove an outer layer of dead cells. That process, encouraged by a new therapy, would allow deeper cells to spur the growth of new hair follicles. "We view it as a very early, very high-risk project," InterWest Partners' Chris Ehrlich tells the newspaper. "But if it works, it would be great."
Insurers have proved reluctant to provide coverage for baldness therapies, but developers are counting on consumers who are passionate about avoiding balding.

This needs to work to end the cycle of this devastating disease. Everyone likes to look their best which allows them to feel their best. never discourage a baldness cure and everyone should donate to end this disease. Baldness is no different from any debilitating disease. It should be cured.
Unfortunately people who are not affected by hairloss in their late teens or early twenties just cannot understand the deep rooted psychological impact it has. This is more than looks, it's really a blow to one's sense of indentity, at a time when one is not fully mature.
For most people, hairloss is just linked to middle life crisis. Perhaps if they had had a baldspot while still in high school or college they would sing a different song.
Unfortunately this is very early research. I doubt a cure is closer than 10 to 15 years. I wish them best of lucks though.
Previous post could not be more true, I'm 24, I'd always been happy with my looks and considered myself fairly attractive. Now I'm seriously balding it has knocked the wind out of me, the mirror is now something I avoid as much as possible and I'm known as the guy that always wears a hat...
I want my confidence back, is bald beautiful? No! It makes me look old beyond my years and has stolen my individuality..
Is it vain? Maybe.. but whats wrong with wanting to look you're best? Looking good on the outside is a massive part of a personal confidence.
I hope I'm young enough to see follica achieve results before its too late!
Good Luck!

Great!! I hope it too
I would like my head for this new science...pleaz...take me...
In may 2007 follica said if all goes well they should have a commercial product in 2-3years . It is possible because their technique is FDA aproved , so they can release it at any time they want . This method is extremely simple , just make a cut and put some protein over it(in general terms). This discovery was a total accident , so it might have shorten with 30-40 years the research and development , the problem is, how safe it is , and how efficent in actual human , not human skin on mice. They are making this kind of procedures of skin abrazion and protein for a long time , in 2-3 years maximum we will find out if follica is a succes or a failure .Of course , i really hope it is a succes , but there are other companies out there that are trying to come up with something , anyway hope for the best.
