FDA to go after unapproved drugs on the market
In a new effort to rein in the use of unapproved drugs, the FDA is beefing up its surveillance efforts. About two percent of all drugs prescribed in the U.S. have never been reviewed or approved by the agency. In some cases, those pharmaceuticals have been linked to severe adverse reactions. The FDA says it will prioritize cases based on their determination of which drugs presented the greatest threat.
