FDA to give Gestiva priority review

Adeza of Sunnyvale, CA announced that the FDA has given priority review status to Gestiva, an experimental therapy for preventing premature births. The decision cuts four months off the agency's review process, giving regulators until October 20 to make a decision on Gestiva. In a trial involving women with a history of premature births, Gestiva was able to reduce the number of premature births overall by 34 percent and reduced the number of premature births before 32 weeks by 42 percent.
