FDA approves Shire's new ulcerative colitis drug

The FDA helped nudge up shares of Shire this morning with the announcement that the agency had approved its ulcerative colitis drug Lialda. In trials Lialda demonstrated its ability to reduce the remission of mild to moderate ulcerative colitis after eight weeks of therapy. The drug will be released in the first quarter of this year.
