Cytokinetics says it will slash close to a third of its workforce and halt cancer research efforts so it can concentrate on muscle biology and advance clinical studies in the pipeline. After the restructuring, South San Francisco-based Cytokinetics will have 111 staffers.
"We believe these changes will result in the necessary savings to enable our advancement of CK-1827452 while also affording us resources to advance potential drug candidates in each of our contractility programs directed at skeletal and smooth muscle to clinical trials and continuing our innovative research in muscle biology," said Robert Blum, Cytokinetics' president and CEO.
