Cholesterol drugs go head-to-head in trial
In a head-to-head trial of blockbuster medications, Merck says new data demonstrates that Vytorin is significantly more effective than AstraZeneca's Crestor in lowering the levels of bad LDL cholesterol. The study concludes that Vytorin in 10-20 mg doses dropped the level of bad cholesterol by 52-61 percent while Crestor in 40 mg doses dropped LDL 46-57 percent. The data was presented at the International Symposium of Atherosclerosis.
