California stem cell agency gets $14M loan
Stymied by lawsuits, several philanthropic groups have agreed to lend the California Institute for Regenerative Medicine $14 million. Created in anticipation of raising $3 billion in bond money, the Institute has been idled by lawsuits that may not be fully resolved before next year. The loans will be put to use training stem cell researchers. A state judge is expected to issue an initial ruling on the lawsuits soon.
