C&L: McIntyre named Vyteris CEO

Timothy J. McIntyre was named Vyteris's CEO and member of the board of directors. Mr. McIntyre succeeds Vincent De Caprio, Ph.D. who will step down as CEO and board member on December 31, 2005. Mr. McIntyre previously served as partner, managing member of CMS-Health.

Wex Pharmaceuticals has named Dr. Edge Wang president and CEO. Dr. Wang had been elected as a member of the board of directors in August 2005 and became the interim CEO shortly thereafter.

Angiotech Pharmaceuticals has appointed Thomas Bailey as its new CFO. He was formerly VP, business development.

Abiomed has named Daniel Sutherby as CFO. Prior to joining PerkinElmer, Mr. Sutherby held the position of assistant treasurer at Applied Extrusion Technologies.

Vasogen has announced the promotion of Christopher J. Waddick to the position of CFO and the appointments of Paul J. Van Damme as VP of finance and CFO and Jacqueline H.R. Le Saux as VP, corporate and legal affairs.

Edwards Lifesciences CFO Corinne Lyle has been appointed to the newly-created position of president, global operations, for the company. Succeeding Lyle as Edwards' CFO and treasurer will be Thomas M. Abate, the company's corporate VP and controller.

Barr Pharmaceuticals has announced that Carole S. Ben-Maimon, M.D., president and COO of Duramed Research, intends to resign from the company to pursue new opportunities. Dr. Ben-Maimon will continue to manage Barr's proprietary product research organization until a successor is named and will remain a member of the board of directors.

Bradley Pharmaceuticals has announced the addition two executives: William Renzo, VP of trade/managed care relations, and David Argento, director of trade relations. Mr. Renzo was formerly general manager for the Puerto Rican and Caribbean territories for Johnson & Johnson. Mr. Argento's most recent employment was with Bayer Healthcare, where he held the position of director of trade.

Baxter International announced the appointment of Steven Caffe, M.D., to the position of VP, global regulatory affairs and medical vigilance. Prior to joining Baxter, Caffe served as US deputy head of regulatory development at Sanofi-Aventis.

Cytori Therapeutics has named John Ransom, Ph.D., VP of research, regenerative cell technology. Prior to joining Cytori, Dr. Ransom spent five years at Novasite Pharmaceuticals, most recently as VP, Biology.

DOV Pharmaceutical has appointed Scott Myers to senior VP, strategic marketing and commercialization. Most recently, Myers was general manager of McNeil Specialty Pharmaceuticals.

New River Pharmaceuticals has made Dr. Robert Colucci VP of clinical development. Prior to joining New River, Dr. Colucci served as the director of clinical research with Purdue Pharma.

Edgar Adams, Sc.D has joined Covance as executive director of epidemiology. Prior to joining Covance, Dr. Adams consulted to the biopharmaceutical industry on the design, assessment and implementation of risk minimization action plans, postmarketing surveillance, drug scheduling, both nationally and internationally, and drug abuse epidemiology.

Microbix Biosystems announced that Elliott W. Knox, a director since 2000, is stepping down from the board of directors and that Dr. Peter M. Blecher has been appointed. Mr. Knox will continue to provide advice to the company on a consulting basis. Blecher is the former CEO of Sequent Biotechnologies, a private biotechnology company that Microbix acquired in September 2005.

George A. Scangos, Ph.D. has been named chairman of the board of Anadys Pharmaceuticals. Dr. Scangos succeeds Jason S. Fisherman, M.D., who has served as chairman since July 2000. Dr. Scangos has served as a member of Anadys' board of directors since 2003.

CombinatoRx has appointed Barbara Deptula to its board of directors. Before joining Shire, Ms. Deptula was the resident of the biotechnology sector of Sicor Pharmaceuticals.

Dr. Judith A. Hemberger has been appointed to Pharmion's board of directors. Dr. Hemberger is executive VP and COO of Pharmion Corporation. Prior to co-founding Pharmion, Dr. Hemberger worked as a consultant to various healthcare companies.

Helix BioMedix has named Richard M. Cohen to its board of directors. Cohen will also serve on the company's audit committee. Mr. Cohen is the managing principal of Richard M. Cohen Consultants, which was formed to enhance shareholder value for public and private company clients.

PTC Therapeutics has named David P. Southwell to its board of directors. Mr. Southwell has been executive VP and CFO of Sepracor since 1994.

Joseph "Skip" Klein has been appointed to Isis Pharmaceuticals' board of directors. Mr. Klein is currently managing director of Gauss Capital Advisors, a financial consulting and investment advisory firm focused on biopharmaceuticals.

Professor Peter van Brummelen and Dr. Annick Schwebig have joined the board of directors of Diatos. Previously, van Brummelen was VP, clinical research and development and chief medical officer at Solvay Pharmaceuticals. Schwebig spent 20 years at Bristol Myers, most recently as VP, clinical research and development, Europe.

Sir Richard Sykes, former chairman and CEO of Glaxo Wellcome and chairman of the board of GlaxoSmithKline, has agreed to join the board of directors of Abraxis BioScience. Sir Richard currently serves as Rector of the Imperial College of Science, Technology and Medicine at the University London.
