C&L: Labopharm chairman resigns during review of stock buy

Labopharm accepted the resignation of its chairman, Ian Lennox, as it reviews his purchase of company stock 13 days before a major distribution deal was announced. Richard MacKay, a director, will assume the role of interim chairman.

Australia's Mayne Group has named French pharma exec Thierry Soursac to run Mayne Pharma, its injectable generic drugs unit. He previously headed research at Rhone Poulenc Rorer and Aventis.

Interface Biologics appointed Richard W. Sullivan president and CEO. Most recently, he was CEO of Atlantis Components.

Bentley Pharmaceuticals has appointed John A. Sedor as its new president, succeeding James R. Murphy, who will remain chairman and CEO of the company. Most recently, he was president and CEO of Sandoz, a division of Novartis.

Cell Bio-Systems has added Darin Andersen as its new president.

Human Biosystems named Dr. David Winter its new president. Harry Masuda, who has held the positions of president and CEO since the company's inception, will continue as its CEO. Dr. Winter has been president and COO of GenPharm International and SangStat Medical, president and CEO of Human Organ Sciences and most recently CEO of TriMed Research.

Metabolic Pharmaceuticals named Peter Dawson as CFO. Prior to joining Metabolic, Dawson was CFO of Uecomm, a specialist broadband carrier.

Gloucester Pharmaceuticals has added two senior directors: Mitchell Keegan, PhD, joins the company as senior director, drug development, and Brian Wiley joins as senior director, marketing and business planning.

Steven P. Damon has been named vice president, business development at Altea Therapeutics. Prior to joining Altea Therapeutics, Damon was executive director at Durect.

Douglas A. Poedtke has been hired as vice president of sales at CollaGenex Pharmaceuticals. Most recently, he was vice president of sales for Stiefel Laboratories.

Synthetech's board of directors has appointed Daniel T. Fagan as chairman of the board.

John E. Doherty, the founder and former CEO of Protalex, will step down after serving out his current term on the board of directors.

Ensemble Discovery has named Jean-Jacques Bienaime to its board of directors.

Biopure has named Guido J. Neels to the company's board of directors.

GenoMed has added Dr. Jason Birnholz to its Business Development Advisory Board.

NOXXON Pharma has appointed Daniel Levitt, MD, PhD, to the position of chairman of the Clinical Advisory Board.
