BTG wins FDA approval for new drug that fights toxicity

The U.K.'s BTG has won FDA approval for Voraxaze, a new treatment designed to lower methotrexate levels. Methotrexate is a commonly used chemo treatment. This new drug is expected to reap about $15 million in annual sales. "Voraxaze is an important new treatment option for cancer patients aimed at preventing these toxicities associated with sustained high levels of methotrexate," Richard Pazdur, director of the FDA's Office of Hematology and Oncology Products, said in a statement.
