Big Pharma won't let concerns slow Asian expansion

Concerns about IP rights and corruption trouble multinational drug companies, but won't stop many from expanding their operations in Asia, according to a new survey from PwC. Roughly one in three of the big pharma companies say they'll expand in Asia in the next year, either through acquisitions or green field projects. And a whopping three out of four local drug companies say that exporting outside of their market is an important goal. Drug companies are putting their IP and corruption fears to one side in part because analysts peg Asia as one of the most important emerging drug markets on the planet. One notable winner: Singapore, which saw $1.3 billion in Big Pharma investments in recent times.
