Avigen inks $100M deal for brain spasm drug
Austria's Sanochemia Pharmazeutika will pocket a $3 million up-front payment and up to $97 million more in milestone and revenue-related payments in return for partnering with Avigen on the development of a new treatment for brain spasms. Avigen gains North American rights to tolperisone along with any variants of the drug. The treatment for neuromuscular spasms is aimed at a market worth some $2.5 billion a year.
