Analysts look for FDA approval of Exubera
Analysts expect the FDA to provide at least tentative approval for Pfizer's Exubera, an inhalable insulin that is expected to earn about $1 billion a year in revenue. The FDA's deadline for a decision is this Friday. A report in MarketWatch notes that Pfizer watchers are looking for either an outright approval or an "approvable letter" that would spell out any remaining work researchers would need to accomplish prior to full approval. Exubera is a powdered form of insulin that is delivered through a portable inhaler. The application covers both the drug as well as the device.
