After a delay, Pfizer sales force revs up for billion-dollar drug

After a six-month delay, Pfizer has begun marketing Lyrica, a new drug designed to ease chronic nerve pain and prevent seizures. Pharmaceutical analysts say that the three indications approved by the FDA put Lyrica on a path to become a billion-dollar earner. One analyst estimates that the drug could earn $500 million just for its use to prevent diabetic seizures. The drug is designed to muffle nerve endings that cause pain, seizures and anxiety.
