Reston, VA-based 5AM Solutions has landed a $1.2 million contract with the Arizona Biomedical Research Commission to develop a centralized, virtual tissue bank called caTissue Suite. Available free to researchers, the bank will allow for the tracking and annotation of tissue samples at Arizona hospitals and research facilities.
As of now, researchers must call each individual facility to find information on tissue samples. With the centralized system, researchers will be able to find specimens and have them sent directly from the hospital to their labs. "With this virtual tissue bank, the ABRC is addressing one of the most fundamental needs for making biomedical research a more efficient and productive enterprise," Brent Gendleman said. "The caTissue suite that we are customizing for the ABRC will help speed the pace of research and foster increased collaborations across a number of institutions."
