Micromet - 2004 Fierce 15 revisited
Micromet
Based: Munich
Founded: 1996
Why it was Fierce in 2004: Micromet was developing MT201, which was in Phase II trials for breast and prostate cancer. It had also struck partnership deals with MedImmune and Boehringer Ingelheim.
Where are they now: Micromet has been on a roll since 2004. After a merger with CancerVax in 2006, the company inked a $100 million deal with Tracon Pharmaceuticals for the successful development of its D93 antibody for cancer. In 2008 Micromet closed a $40 million round of private placement financing, and this year it reported good data from a mid-stage study of blinatumomab (MT103) for leukemia.
