What Happened: La Jolla Pharmaceuticals' fate has been in question since February after its Phase III drug Riquent flunked a key trial. Riquent, a lupus drug, was shelved after an interim analysis revealed that the continuation of the trial was futile. Riquent was the company's only clinical-stage drug. With no help from investors, La Jolla was forced to liquidate in August.
