Scoop: Amyris Biotechnologies, which also produces biofeuls and other chemicals, raised $41.75 million as part of a C round to fund the commercialization of its products in 2011, according to Greentechmedia. Amyris was able to raise the first, $24.7 million by August, according to its filing with the SEC. The filing says the company was seeking to raise $62 million.
Under a non-profit initiative, Amyris has applied its technology to provide a second source of artemisinin, an anti-malarial therapy, which will be commercialized by Sanofi-Aventis.
