A stem cell expert and four top scientists in the genomics field are among the world's 'hottest' scientists, as selected by Thomson Reuters.
MIT's Rudolph Jaenisch made the number one spot on the annual list of the world's hottest scientists. Mark Daly, David Altshuler, and Paul I.W. de Bakker and Eric Lander from MIT and Harvard's Broad Institute also made the roster.
"Our annual roundup of researchers who have authored multiple Hot Papers allows us to recognize those who are leading scientific thought," said Christopher King, editor of Science Watch. And there was a heavy emphasis this year on biomedical research.
Others in the top 12 include Osaka University's Shizuo Akira, for his work on toll-like receptors. Carlo Croce from Ohio State University was recognized for his research on cancer genetics alongside biostatistician Goncalo Abecasis.
