PSI expands in Italy amid global push

Swiss CRO Psi is amping up its presence in Italy, the latest expansion for a clinical trial outfit beefing up its global reach to meet demand.

The new operational office, situated near Milan, will add to Psi's European heft in recruiting and managing clinical trials. The CRO said it has already been working in Italy for years, running trials for oncology treatments, central nervous system therapies and diabetes drugs, among other areas.

This latest expansion comes after Psi's leap into India earlier this month, opening a local headquarters in Bangalore in response to client demand. Last month, Psi expanded its footprint to include South Africa, following 2012's jumps into North and South America.

Psi employs about 1,300 people around the world, and the CRO has been setting up satellite centers in global clinical research hubs over the past year, including offices in the Bay Area, Eastern Europe, the Middle East and, now, fast-growing Southeast Asia.
