Northwestern University scientists believe they have found a way to successfully use nanotechnology to directly induce stem cells to morph into bone cells, essentially on command. As The Guardian reports, the nanoscientists used polymer pen lithography to build a nanoscopic sculpture on which they grew mesenchymal stem cells, which the body typically sends around when repairs are needed. From that point, they directed the cell patterns into becoming bone cells.
