Laboratory Corporation of America Holdings ($LH) and Envision Healthcare Holdings ($EVHC) have invested $15 million in a Series B in Vivify, a startup focused on patient engagement and remote patient monitoring. The pair join existing strategic venture arms Heritage Group and Ascension Health Ventures, whose limited partners are some of the largest U.S. health systems, as Vivify investors.
The startup, founded in 2009, will use the financing to broaden its services further into population health. LabCorp and Envision will also partner with the firm under the deal and LabCorp will gain a Vivify board seat.

"With our new partners, Vivify will be uniquely positioned to scale the goals of our healthcare and payer customers," Vivify CEO Eric Rock said in a statement "Our combined solutions and services will allow us to expand our value beyond traditional fee-for-service to at-risk models, completing all stages of population health. We are thrilled to have multibillion-dollar organizations joining us in our mission to change the way healthcare is delivered."
Vivify is creating a mobile version of its platform that will work on patient's own mobile devices and that will integrate personalized care plans, survey questions, biometric device integration, educational videos and video conferencing. Its SaaS-based platform is already being employed at more than 250 hospitals, Rock told MobiHealthNews.
"Vivify's platform simplifies the delivery of our clinical monitoring and in-home care services nationwide, and now we can support Vivify's customers with the same services," Envision CEO William Sanger said in a statement. "Together we can efficiently manage remote care for clinical conditions, while improving outcomes and overall population health."
The startup's platform enables "deep integration" into emergency medical records, analytics and population health systems, including various application program interfaces as well as real-time and bidirectional data exchange.
