Medtronic recalls breathing tube; FDA warns of deadly risk

Medtronic ($MDT) launched a recall of the NIM Trivantage endotracheal tube over deflation risks, and now the FDA has assigned its most-serious tag to the affair, warning that the malfunction could result in serious injury or death. The device is used to keep patients' airways open during surgery, and Medtronic recalled certain lots back in March after receiving reports of leakages that could cause them to deflate during procedures. The FDA has ruled it a Class I recall and is asking affected customers to disclose adverse events through its MedWatch portal. More
