Medtronic ($MDT) has secured the FDA's blessing to market its Aquamantys 3 BSC 9.1S bipolar sealer with cutting, a device that combines two surgical techs in one. Medtronic's instrument features hemostatic sealing capabilities for bone and soft tissue, in addition to blades for cutting. The sealer includes the company's Transcollation technology, using radiofrequency energy and saline to reduce bone loss and keep hemoglobin levels stable, the company said. Release
