The FDA touted the medical device-related applications of its openFDA Application Programming Interface (API) as it embraces Big Data. All sorts of information from the medical device product life cycle is available, including records about device classification, registrations of device companies and establishments, and lists of more than 100,000 devices. The API could be applied to make an app for searching medical device recalls, or put to other creative uses.
