Cordis alerts doctors on Cypher design spec problems

Johnson & Johnson's Cordis unit has sent doctors an alert stating the Cypher stent may not meet design specifications for proper expansion within heart arteries. The alert follows a mid-February warning letter the FDA issued to Cordis about this issue, and it adds to challenges facing the stent that once lead the market but has been passed by offerings from Boston Scientific and Abbott Laboratories.
