BD to close Wisconsin plant

Becton Dickinson's ($BDX) diagnostics arm is shuttering a plant in Wisconsin and laying off more than 100 employees. The Wisconsin State Journal reports that the cuts will begin on Aug. 31 at BD's Monona plant, with a full closure expected by next June. BD's action is all about consolidation. Its diagnostics arm is based near Baltimore, and the plant closing means the company will consolidate operations there. BD's Monona plant produced culture media to grow bacteria and monitor air contaminants. Story
