BD gets partial win in patent case

Becton, Dickinson has won a partial appeal of a $5 million patent-infringement verdict in favor of Retractable Technologies on technology used to protect healthcare workers from accidental needle sticks. BD's 3-mL Integra syringe doesn't violate Retractable's patents, the court found, reversing part of a 2009 jury verdict. However, the court upheld the remaining portion of the jury's finding that BD's 1-mL Integra product does infringe. Story
