Accutron recalls flowmeters over gas risk

Accutron is pulling 206 units of its Ultra PC% Cabinet Mount Flowmeters off the market after receiving reports that the devices can release nitrous oxide when switched off, possibly leading to brain damage in patients. The company has received only two such reports and has not heard of any injuries, but it has chosen to launch a voluntary recall anyhow. The FDA is aware of the recall but has not assigned it a class designation. The agency is asking physicians and patients to report related adverse events through its online MedWatch system. Release
