Zymergen snags $44M for data-driven rethink of fermentation

Zymergen raised $44 million in a Series A round to develop its data-driven approach to improving microbe-based manufacturing. The Emeryville, CA-based startup is using machine learning, robotics and computer analytics to improve the economics and scalability of strains used in fermentation.
