Pervasive perks up Pathways

Data- and image-management service provider M2S is working with Pervasive Software (PVSW) to improve the Clinical Data Pathways product. Pervasive will provide the users of Pathways, a clinical data management system, with the means to extract and import data from existing electronic health records for data pooling within an institution, with peers and for export to third parties.

Pathways targets physicians and clinical researchers at hospitals and medical centers, helping them assess outcomes to improve practice standards. The collaboration allows "bidirectional integration, eliminating duplicate data entry and streamlining patient documentation workflows," according to an announcement.

Perceptive must be doing something right: company shares increased 19 percent on Friday after the company raised its first-quarter outlook. And the day before, it launched a corporate initiative "aimed at connecting virtually all on-premises and on-demand applications and data sources." The effort, called, Universal CONNECT!, is intended to provide connectivity to "essentially anything--from legacy to SaaS applications, data files to databases, Web to mainframe, for nearly every on-premises or on-demand application or data source," a company announcement says.
