BioSoft opens office for DNA data analysis in Asia

BioSoft Integrators has expanded its operations in Asia with the opening of a Malaysian corporation in Kuala Lumpur, providing the San Diego-area provider of DNA sequencing analysis with an outpost for serving customers abroad. The company and other life sciences players have beefed up operations in Asia as the region's healthcare and research sectors expand.

BioSoft's Malaysian group gives the company a site to base hardware and software support for its high-performance compute cluster for its customers in the region, including clients in South Korea, Japan, Australia and India, the company says. The outpost also provides a development center for working with customers to build new analysis tools for next-generation sequencing data.

"This expansion shows a commitment to our current and future customers in Asia that BioSoft Integrators is dedicated to providing the best service and support possible," Henry Marentes, the company's co-founder and CEO, said in a statement.

In other company news, BioSoft has bagged an agreement with Pacific Biosciences of California ($PACB) to provide high-performance compute clusters for PacBio's SMRT analysis.
