AstraZeneca's CFO Simon Lowth leaves for BG Group
Simon Lowth, CFO at AstraZeneca ($AZN), left the company for the same position at BG Group. According to Reuters, Lowth jumped ship after being passed over for the top position at the drugmaker, which went with Pascal Soriot as its CEO in October last year. Reuters also notes that Lowth "is leaving one company faced with a turbulent financial future for another." Article | More

> Gordon K. Johnson joined KemPharm as the company's chief operating officer and chief financial officer. Release
> SciClone Pharmaceuticals ($SCLN) appointed Wilson W. Cheung as chief financial officer and senior vice president of finance. Prior to SciClone, Cheung served as chief compliance officer at Velti. Release
> DNAnexus brought on Omar Serang as the company's chief cloud officer. DNAnexus specializes in cloud-based DNA data management and analysis solutions. Release
> Henrik Juuel joined Orexo as chief financial officer, leading the company's effort to commercialize its FDA-approved lead product, Zubzolv. Release
> Intarcia Therapeutics snagged Eddie Li to be the vice president and global head of regulatory affairs. Previously, Li served as vice president and head of U.S. regulatory affairs at Novo Nordisk ($NVO). Release
> Gaston L. Bernstein joined Biomed Pharmaceuticals as the company's new CEO. Release
> Biovest International has emerged from bankruptcy and has promoted Carlos F. Santos as CEO. Biovest's former CEO, Samuel S. Duffey, will lead a new Biovest-owned subsidiary. Release
> Oligomerix has appointed James Hendrix as senior director of chemistry. Previously, Hendrix spent most of his 20-year career at Sanofi-Aventis. Release
> CytomX Therapeutics has appointed Dr. Krishna Polu to the newly created position of chief medical officer. Prior to joining CytomX, Polu served as vice president, clinical development at Affymax ($AFFY). CytomX also promoted Debanjan Ray to the role of vice president, business development and alliance management. Ray joined CytomX in August 2011 as senior director, head of business development. > Hyperion Therapeutics ($HPTX) has added three new executives to its leadership team: Ashley Gould as senior vice president, governmental affairs and chief legal officer; Natalie Holles as senior vice president, corporate and business development; and Sylvia Wheeler, vice president, investor relations and corporate communications. > Dr. Sarah J. Schlesinger, senior attending physician and associate professor of clinical investigation in the Laboratory of Cellular Physiology and Immunology at The Rockefeller University, has joined the board of ARIAD Pharmaceuticals ($ARIA). Release
