InVentiv sells sample management biz to Knipper

Global CRO InVentiv Health ($VTIV) is shipping out its sample management business to J. Knipper and focusing instead on its other clinical and commercial offerings.

Neither outfit disclosed financial details, but Knipper said the acquisition makes it the country's largest end-to-end service provider in pharmaceutical sample management, covering marketing, distribution and regulatory compliance.

And the companies don't plan on going their separate ways now that the deal is done. Under the terms, Knipper can market its sample services to InVentiv's commercialization clients, while InVentiv can sell its tele-detailing offerings to Knipper's multi-channel marketing customers.

For InVentiv, Knipper's market leadership in sampling made it an ideal destination for the business, Health Selling Solutions President Paul Mignon said.

"J. Knipper and Company's greater scale in the areas of sample accountability and fulfillment will enhance the services provided to inVentiv Health customers," Mignon said in a statement. "We look forward to continuing to collaborate with the J. Knipper and Company team on delivering customer-focused solutions with real results."
