Merck taps CA Technologies for compliance upgrade

Security and compliance matters have driven Merck to adopt a company-wide web-based security platform and automated compliance system. The drug giant chose CA Technologies as systems vendor.

A year ago, Merck was among the corporate victims of the giant Kneber botnet, reports Computerworld UK. The malicious agent penetrated 75,000 computers at 2,500 companies and government agencies, gathering login credentials to financial systems, social networking sites and e-mail systems.

Merck's new IT systems include CA SiteMinder and CA Audit. The company's various IT systems serve thousands of employees, customers and business partners. Its CA implementation includes a single sign-on system combined with a centralized identity and access management system.
