Interview: Stanford's Butte on bridging gap from Big Data to biotech discoveries

Dr. Atul Butte (a 2012 Top 10 Biotech Techie) made the jump from software development to medicine before Big Data became a big buzzword in the biopharma industry. Now he's pioneering efforts from his lab at Stanford University and via a startup called NuMedii--which is led by his wife, Gini Deshpande--to mine massive data sets for breakthrough diagnostics and treatments. He talked about his work with Ron Leuty of the San Francisco Business Times ahead of a speaking gig during the Personalized Medicine World Conference later this month in the Bay Area. Interview
