Perlman Named Chief Medical Officer of ACR Image Metrix

Newswise — Reston, Va. (April 17, 2012) — The American College of Radiology (ACR) has named medical imaging contract-research veteran Eric S. Perlman, MD, chief medical officer of ACR Image Metrix™. Image Metrix is a leading imaging contract research organization (CRO) and for-profit subsidiary of the ACR.

Perlman has more than two decades of experience in radiology, including contract research organization and management. He is former Chief Scientific Officer and Vice President of Molecular Imaging for RadPharm, Inc., one of the nation's first imaging CROs. During his decade tenure at RadPharm, Perlman drove the development of the corporation's infrastructure to carry out early phase trials that incorporated advanced molecular imaging techniques.

Perlman is intensely interested in new imaging technology that has the potential to demonstrate early on the efficacy of new therapeutics being investigated and the mechanistic attributes of new agents. "Through my affiliation with leading research groups around the country I have the opportunity to share lessons learned in a commercial research environment and to learn about many exciting endeavors occurring in the academic world," says Perlman who participates in, among others, the Radiological Society of North America's Quantitative Imaging Biomarkers Alliance and American Healthcare Research Quality activities.

Perlman was a clinical radiologist for more than 10 years with Princeton Radiologist Associates, in Princeton, NJ, during which time he led the establishment of the practice's positron emission tomography imaging services. He has participated as an independent reviewer on more than 100 clinical trials for which an imaging biomarker was used to provide response assessment for a primary, secondary or exploratory endpoint.

"I am excited and proud to be a part of the outstanding and cutting-edge work carried out by ACR Image Metrix. We help bring lifesaving, life-extending and life-improving advances to market more efficiently. By streamlining this process, ACR Image Metrix helps ensure that patients gain access to the advances made by imaging science, bio-pharmaceutical, device manufacturing and imaging science stakeholders in a safe, efficient manner," said Perlman.

"We are extremely pleased to have such an accomplished and respected researcher as the chief medical officer of ACR Metrix. Dr. Perlman brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the position. His leadership will prove invaluable to Image Metrix and our clients. We look forward to the remarkable advances in patient care that Dr. Perlman will help the clients of ACR Image Metrix produce," said Donald P. Rosen, MD, ACR Image Metrix chief executive officer.

ACR Image Metrix provides the most complete suite of imaging services for early phase clinical trials. ACR Image Metrix experience with cutting edge and molecular imaging trials is unsurpassed. It provides imaging services for clinical trials from Phase I through Phase IV.
