MENLO PARK, Calif., June 24, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- SRI International today announced that William Jeffrey, Ph.D., President and CEO of HRL Laboratories, will become SRI's President and CEO effective September 1, 2014. SRI's current President and CEO Curtis R. Carlson, Ph.D., earlier this year announced his retirement from those roles to become Vice Chairman for Innovation when his successor was selected.

"The Board of Directors and I are very appreciative to Curt Carlson for his service and accomplishments during his 16 years as SRI's ninth and longest-term President and CEO. Byerwalter continued, "William Jeffrey brings a wealth of experience from the government and commercial sectors to SRI, including 25 years in R&D and science and technology policy. I am looking forward to Bill's leadership and contributions as he continues to build the SRI innovation powerhouse."

"SRI International is such an accomplished research organization, it's an honor to be selected as its new President and CEO," said Jeffrey. "SRI's mission is timeless and its legacy of innovations peerless. I am looking forward to working with its executive team and R&D staff, and with its clients and partners, to advance SRI's vision to be the premier, independent source of high-value innovations."
