Fargo Electronics, Inc., a global leader in secure technologies for ID card systems, today launched OnQueue Card Production Software, a scalable application that transforms multiple stand-alone ID card printers into one centralized system for large-volume card production.
MINNEAPOLIS (BusinessWire EON) September 23, 2007 -- OnQueue offers flexibility in managing as few as two or more than 20 card printers in a single system, thereby growing with an organization's needs. The software consists of a client application that sends print jobs from any PC on the network to a server, and the server-based application manages and processes the jobs as they're created. All print information is stored in a central database that makes management, back-up and archiving easy.
"Before OnQueue, large-volume card programs had to invest hundreds of thousands of dollars in massive, stationary card printers, or purchase individual printers attached to individual PCs for decentralized card production," said Glenn Bottomly, Fargo's director of product marketing for ID software and systems. "Neither option has the efficiency or ROI that OnQueue does. The large, stationary printers can lead to financial risk and slower ROI if lower than planned card production volumes lead to excess capacity. And they can bring production to a standstill with a single technical problem. Using individual printers attached to PCs can become inefficient as production needs increase, and it can become difficult to see the 'big picture' of what is really happening out in the production system. With OnQueue, users can centrally manage the printers they need for the print jobs they have."
OnQueue automatically routes print jobs to printers on the network. Multiple print jobs can be sent to the server individually or in a single batch. Batches, and print jobs within a batch, can be prioritized by level of importance.
Uptime is maximized with OnQueue. If there's a problem with a print job or a printer, the system identifies it and redirects the job. Smart load balancing reroutes jobs if a printer should go offline, eliminating the usual manual retracking, rerouting and reprinting.
Because of its flexibility, OnQueue is perfect for small to large businesses, education and health care facilities, government agencies, recreation centers, card service bureaus or any organization with high volume card production.
A 30-day trial version of OnQueue is available at no charge. OnQueue software packages supporting up to three client workstations and three printers begin at $1995 U.S.
