Broadening its coverage of the antibiotics market, GeoPharma has bought controlling interest in Consolidated Pharmaceuticals Group, which makes penicillin and beta-lactam antibiotics at a Baltimore plant. The deal was made through a new subsidiary, American Antibiotics, which plans to upgrade the plant and launch manufacturing there by the second quarter of 2006.
