FDA rejects Abbott's prostate cancer drug Xinlay

One month after an FDA advisory panel unanimously turned thumbs down on Abbott Laboratory's experimental therapy for prostate cancer, the agency officially concurred with a "not approvable" letter. Undeterred, Abbott said that it would continue with a Phase III trial of Xinlay in 1,000 men whose cancer had yet to spread. Abbott believes that the therapy could prove effective in early-stages of the disease. Two early trials failed to hit their primary endpoints.
