DNAnexus Appoints Omar Serang as Chief Cloud Officer
Amazon Web Services veteran brings two decades of enterprise IT expertise to leading provider of cloud services for DNA data analysis

Serang joins DNAnexus from Amazon Web Services and will work closely with the product management and engineering teams to lead initiatives focused on scaling the advanced functionality and adoption of the company's pioneering cloud-based service for analyzing and managing DNA data.

As Chief Cloud Officer, Serang will be responsible for driving product development roadmaps and managing compliance and integration efforts that enable enterprise customers to seamlessly deploy the DNAnexus platform. He will also be responsible for the evaluation, design and implementation of stringent cloud security and governance features. Serang joins DNAnexus from Amazon Web Services (AWS), where he formed the Enterprise Cloud Transformation consulting practice. In this role, he designed and deployed cloud architectures for Fortune 100 customers and provided roadmap guidance to AWS service teams based on firsthand experience with customers' adoption. Prior, he was EC2 Operations Engineering Manager at AWS, during which he was responsible for AWS Elastic Compute Cloud service quality. Serang has also served in senior operations positions at Topsy Labs, Cloudmark and Critical Path. Serang holds a Bachelor's of Science from the University of California, Berkeley.
