Curis has halted patient enrollment in a clinical trial of an experimental cancer drug after concluding that the therapy demonstrated less clinical activity than expected. Researchers stopped a segment of the trial of G-024856 that was intended to explore the effects of higher doses of the drug for patients with basal cell carcinoma. Curis--which is partnered with Genentech on the drug--says it wants to study the data before proceeding the the new leg of the clinical study. The therapy is intended to block signals that trigger cancer cells to multiply. Curis stock took a dive on the news.
