Australia's CSL, which has a Pennsylvania subsidiary, has been involved in discussions with the FDA to provide 20 million doses of its flu vaccine in the U.S. for the 2007-2008 season. CSL provides the vaccine to a variety of European countries and is investing $60 million in its Melbourne facility to double production. It plans to make its U.S. subsidiary, ZLB Behring, responsible for sales and distribution. Health officials say they welcome new vaccine distributors, which would alleviate any future shortage.
