The idea could cause laughter among biotechs facing huge costs in getting a drug to market, but experts say you could set up a decent home biotech lab for less than $50,000. That may well prove appealing for a new generation of biologists coming out of college. Biotech hobbyists have their own magazine and are beginning to turn out their own creations. Their ranks may be thin now, but their future looks promising.
