Applied Proteomics, Inc. Appoints Robert C. Verfurth As Vice President, Sales

SAN DIEGO, July 20, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Applied Proteomics Inc., a developer of protein-based molecular diagnostics, announced today the appointment of Robert C. Verfurth as the company's vice president of sales. Mr. Verfurth has more than 25 years of experience in sales leadership in the clinical laboratory, medical instrument and pharmaceutical industries, including positions with Innovus Pharmaceuticals, Inc., Apricus Biosciences, Inc., GeneOhm Sciences, Inc., BD Diagnostics, Prometheus Laboratories Inc. and Dianon Systems, Inc.

Applied Proteomics recently partnered with InVentiv Health, a contract commercial organization, in order to help establish a sales force. The company is developing a non-invasive blood test for early detection of colorectal cancer, one of the most deadly yet preventable cancers if detected early.

Prior to joining Applied Proteomics Inc., Mr. Verfurth was vice president, sales and marketing for Innovus Pharmaceuticals, Inc., where he was responsible for a portfolio of prescription medicines and OTC consumer products. Previous to that, he was the vice president of sales of BQ kits and business development for Apricus Biosciences, Inc.  Mr. Verfurth served as vice president, U.S. Sales and Support, for GeneOhm (acquired by BD Diagnostics in 2006), where he grew sales from ground up to $28 million, including launch of the first molecular diagnostic test for MRSA.  He also held the positions of vice president of managed care and trade relations for Prometheus Laboratories Inc. and vice president of sales at Dianon Systems, Inc.

Mr. Verfurth has an M.S. in systems management from the University of Southern California and a B.S. in business administration from the University of Notre Dame.
