US, Australia will promote plan to combat avian flu outbreak
Australia and the US are preparing to unveil a new plan to help control a potential flu pandemic. The multimillion-dollar plan--to be announced at the Asia-Pacific Economic Co-operation in Korea--calls for border closings and regional registries of new cases. The registries are seen as a way to pressure countries to avoid hiding cases of avian flu, as Indonesia and others have been accused of doing.
