Top cancer research institutions split $540M windfall

Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York now has an extra $90 million to devote to cancer immunotherapy research. The center was one of 6 top institutions to split a major $540 million offering from Ludwig Cancer Research. MIT will use its money to explore metastasis with Harvard, Stanford will focus on cancer stem cells, the University of Chicago will research hormone and radiation-based therapies and Johns Hopkins will concentrate on prevention and early detection.
