Threshold Pharmaceuticals has announced that two trials of TH-070 for enlargement of the prostate gland did not meet their primary endpoints. The Phase II trial did not have a statistically significant effect among dosing ranges and the Phase III trial did not achieve a significant difference between TH-070 and placebo. The company has decided to discontinue development of the drug for this indication. "We will continue to seek additional product candidates with which to broaden our portfolio and look forward to the results from our ongoing Phase II and Phase III trials of Glufosfamide for the treatment of pancreatic cancer by year-end," stated CEO Barry Selick.
