Shire CFO to exit in wake of failed AbbVie deal
Shire's interim chief financial officer, James Bowling, is quitting his current role and moving to the same position at Severn Trent, the London Evening Standard reports. The company ($SHPG) said it would kick off its search for a new CFO "immediately." The news comes at a transitional moment for Shire, as the company is still reeling from its failed deal with Illinois-based AbbVie ($ABBV). Last week, AbbVie said it would recommend that shareholders vote against the proposed merger, responding to new guidelines that make it more difficult for companies to shift their domicile abroad for tax-paying purposes.
